TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojataba Khamenei has called for stronger domestic production to address the country’s economic problems.

He also urged Iran to reduce its reliance on the US dollar in financial transactions.

Khamenei made the remarks on Friday in a message marking Government Week in Iran.

Khamenei Praises Pezeshkian Government

The Supreme Leader praised President Masoud Pezeshkian and government officials for meeting public needs during what he described as US-Israeli aggression and a blockade.

He said the government had worked to provide essential goods and services.

He also praised efforts to repair damaged areas and manage the country’s energy needs.

Khamenei honored former President Mohammad Ali Rajai and Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar. Both were killed in a bombing at the prime minister’s office on August 30, 1981.

He also honored former President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials who died while serving the country.

Domestic Production Key to Economic Recovery

Khamenei said Iran faces several economic and livelihood challenges.

He pointed to inflation as one of the main concerns.

However, he also called for greater production inside Iran.

“The key to resolving all these matters in this field lies in relying as much as possible on domestic production,” he said.

He added that Iran should use imports when local production cannot meet demand.

At the same time, he called for careful and effective use of imports.

Call to Reduce Dollar Dependence

Khamenei also urged Iran to reduce the role of the US dollar in important transactions.

He said the country should place its broader “resistance economy” policies at the center of its economic plans.

Iran has faced heavy US sanctions for years.

The latest remarks come as Washington continues to increase economic pressure on Tehran.

Khamenei said Iran should focus on better economic management and use the skills of experts and the public.

Khamenei Urges Use of New Technology

The Supreme Leader also highlighted the role of young experts and new technology.

He said Iran should make better use of innovations developed by young people.

According to Khamenei, abandoning outdated methods can help the country make faster progress.

He also called for new approaches when existing systems fail to deliver results.

Leader Stresses National Unity

Khamenei also placed strong emphasis on national unity and social cohesion.

He warned against statements that could weaken public confidence or divide Iranian society.

He also rejected what he called false choices between war and negotiations, or consensus and extremism.

“Committing any act that harms social cohesion is prohibited,” he said.

Khamenei said the government should therefore protect unity while dealing with the country’s challenges.

Focus on Education and Public Services

The Supreme Leader also called for greater attention to education and culture.

He said these areas should remain a priority across government policies.

Khamenei specifically mentioned teachers, university lecturers and religious instructors.

He also highlighted the role of doctors and nurses working in public institutions.

In addition, he praised homemakers for their role in raising children and shaping Iran’s future society.

Khamenei expressed hope that the government would follow these recommendations and help build a stronger Iran.
