BRICS leaders called for respect for all religious and holy sites in the city.
BRICS Supports Two-State Solution
The BRICS countries reaffirmed their support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue.
They also stressed the need to end tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. In addition, they called for the implementation of the relevant United Nations resolution.
The leaders also called for efforts to prevent conflicts around the world.
According to the declaration, countries should address the root causes of conflicts. They said nations should resolve disputes through talks and diplomacy.
Concern Over Nuclear War
The BRICS countries expressed concern over the growing risk of nuclear war.
They also called for the safety and security of nuclear facilities during armed conflicts.
Meanwhile, the group criticized unilateral trade restrictions and higher tariffs.
The BRICS leaders again stressed the need for peaceful solutions to international disputes.
Xi Jinping Warns Against Rising Tensions
Chinese President Xi Jinping also addressed the BRICS summit.
He said the war in the Middle East had caused heavy losses for people across the region. He added that the conflict does not serve the interests of the international community.
Xi urged countries to avoid steps that could increase tensions in the Middle East and the Gulf.
He also said China was ready to work with BRICS countries to help promote peace in the Middle East.
Furthermore, Xi said BRICS countries should not interfere in the internal affairs of other nations.
Instead, he called on the group to play a leading role in promoting peace and stability.
Xi Calls for a Strong Position on Global Issues
Xi said BRICS countries should stand firmly on the lessons of history.
He added that the Middle East war had caused serious damage to the region.
Therefore, he said continuing the conflict would not serve the interests of the international community.
The BRICS statement and Xi’s remarks highlighted calls for diplomacy, regional stability and a peaceful resolution to conflicts.
