RIYADH: An Israeli newspaper has claimed that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sought intelligence support from Israel to help end the Houthi blockade of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
According to the newspaper, the Saudi crown prince also sought indirect support in the Yemen conflict from Israel and other countries in the region.
Saudi Arabia Reportedly Sought Intelligence Assistance
The report claims that Saudi Arabia contacted Israel and other Gulf states directly.
It also allegedly sought indirect assistance through the US Central Command.
The requested support reportedly included intelligence and other forms of assistance linked to the conflict in Yemen.
Houthi Threats Put Pressure on Saudi Arabia
The Israeli newspaper said the US refusal to carry out attacks against Ansar Allah, the Houthi movement, has placed Saudi Arabia in a difficult position.
According to the report, Saudi Arabia faces attacks from several directions.
It further claimed that attacks and disruptions are affecting Saudi Arabia’s export routes.
The claims come amid wider regional tensions linked to the Yemen conflict and the strategic Bab el-Mandeb waterway.
