NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Pakistani business leaders and professionals living in the United States to invest in Pakistan.
The prime minister held separate meetings with several delegations during his visit to New York. The groups included business leaders and professionals from different sectors.
The delegations represented information technology, artificial intelligence, automobiles and energy. Experts from construction and other industries also attended the meetings.
Prime Minister Highlights Investment Opportunities
Shehbaz Sharif said the government is creating a business-friendly environment to attract investment.
He urged Pakistani business leaders in the United States to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan. He also praised overseas Pakistanis for promoting the country’s image around the world.
The prime minister described Pakistani professionals and business leaders as ambassadors of Pakistan. He said their work can help strengthen the country’s economic ties with other nations.
FBR Reforms and Business Facilitation
Shehbaz Sharif also discussed reforms at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
He said the reforms have helped address several concerns of the business community. Meanwhile, the government continues to work on measures that can make business activities easier.
The prime minister said the government is also taking steps to support trade and investment. These measures aim to improve the overall business environment.
Focus on Agricultural Innovation
The prime minister also highlighted the importance of innovation in agriculture.
He said the government is giving greater attention to modern methods and development in the agricultural sector.
According to the prime minister, stronger agricultural output can support economic growth. Therefore, the government is pursuing various measures to improve the sector.
Business Leaders Appreciate Government Measures
The participating business leaders welcomed several government initiatives.
They appreciated the steps taken to promote agriculture, industry and exports. They also praised reforms introduced at the FBR.
The delegations expressed support for efforts aimed at improving economic activity and creating new opportunities for investment.
Officials Attend the Meetings
Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan also attended the meetings.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Bilal Bin Saqib was present as well. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, also participated.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Ahmed Sheikh attended the meetings. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Foreign Media Musharraf Zaidi was also present.
Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Chairman Syed Qamar Raza and Managing Director Afzal Bhatti also attended. Other senior officials joined the meetings as well.
