ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has condemned the reported Houthi drone attack on the Taibah power distribution station in Madinah.
Ashrafi said the attack targeted a civilian power facility that serves the Prophet’s Mosque. He also said Saudi authorities successfully protected the electricity network.
Friday Declared a Day of Protest
Meanwhile, Ashrafi announced Friday as a day of protest and condemnation across Pakistan.
He said people across the country will strongly condemn what he described as Houthi attempts to target Makkah and Madinah.
Furthermore, Ashrafi said condemnation resolutions will be passed across Pakistan on Friday. Religious scholars, organizations and communities will voice their opposition to the reported attack.
He added that the protests will also express complete solidarity with the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia.
Ashrafi Defends Security of Two Holy Mosques
Ashrafi said the security of Makkah and Madinah concerns the entire Muslim Ummah.
He questioned the Islamic credentials of anyone who targets the two holy cities. Moreover, he said attacks on the holy sites cannot represent Islam or Muslims.
The Pakistan Ulema Council chairman also praised Saudi defense and security institutions. According to Ashrafi, Saudi authorities have taken important steps to protect the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.
Saudi Authorities Report No Power Network Disruption
Saudi authorities said the Houthi drone targeted the Taibah power distribution station in Madinah on September 29.
According to the Saudi-led coalition, the strike damaged one power transformer. However, the attack did not disrupt the wider electricity network serving Madinah or the Prophet’s Mosque.
The coalition also said investigators examined the drone wreckage and concluded that the Houthi movement planned and carried out the attack. These findings come from Saudi authorities and have not been independently verified by WorldSpokesperson.
Nationwide Solidarity With Saudi Arabia
Ashrafi said Pakistanis will stand with Saudi Arabia during the Friday protests.
In addition, he called for a clear message against threats to Makkah and Madinah. He said the planned resolutions and demonstrations will highlight the importance of protecting the Two Holy Mosques.
The announcement follows earlier statements by Pakistani religious scholars and Islamic organizations in support of Saudi Arabia’s security.
