TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme Leader and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has said the role of the country’s police force in maintaining national security has become more visible during recent wars.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made the remarks in a message marking Iran’s Police Week. He said the police had played an important role in maintaining security across the country, from major cities to villages and local communities.

Khamenei Highlights Police Role in Security

According to Iran’s IRNA news agency, Khamenei said the police force had demonstrated its importance at every level, from senior command and staff positions to police stations and local posts.

He said the role became even more evident during what he described as the second and third imposed wars against Iran.

Khamenei also said security remains one of the most important blessings for Iranian society. He praised police officers for protecting communities across different regions and difficult geographical areas.

Praise for Police Officers

The Iranian leader said police work supports social order, public security and wider social well-being. He also praised officers for continuing their duties despite difficult conditions.

In his message, Khamenei claimed that US and Israeli forces had focused on targeting police personnel at different levels during recent conflicts. He said such attacks had failed to stop Iranian police officers from carrying out their responsibilities.

According to Khamenei, police officers continued their duties even on roads and inside vehicles when security conditions affected their regular workplaces.

Call for Greater Public Trust

Khamenei said the Iranian people appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of those responsible for maintaining national security.

He also urged police personnel to strengthen public trust through professional and confidence-building conduct. Moreover, he said some members of society may overlook the sacrifices of security personnel because much of their work remains unseen.

The Supreme Leader said such sacrifices could carry greater spiritual value because they often receive little public recognition.

Focus on Technology and Artificial Intelligence

Khamenei also called for broader support for Iran’s security personnel through human resources, equipment and technology.

In particular, he highlighted advances in technology and the use of artificial intelligence for data analysis. He said smart use of such technologies could improve police capabilities and make their duties easier to perform.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening the police force so it can respond more effectively to security challenges.

Message to Police Personnel

At the end of his message, Khamenei paid tribute to police personnel who had been killed in the line of duty. He also praised their families, officers, soldiers and young personnel.

He expressed hope that the police force would continue contributing to Iran’s security, strength and national standing.
