SANA’A: Ansarullah leader Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi has accused Saudi Arabia of committing crimes against the Yemeni people with the support of the United States and Israel.
Al-Houthi made the remarks in a speech marking the 10th anniversary of the Saudi-US coalition’s attack on the Great Hall in Sana’a in 2016. He said the attack killed and wounded around 1,000 people.
Al-Houthi Accuses Saudi Arabia of War Crimes
According to Iran’s IRNA, which cited Al Mayadeen TV, al-Houthi said all Yemeni provinces had witnessed what he described as Saudi crimes against humanity and war crimes.
He also accused Saudi Arabia of deliberately targeting the Yemeni people alongside the United States and Israel. In addition, he called on Muslim nations to view the Saudi government as responsible for what he described as aggression against Yemen.
Al-Houthi said Riyadh was trying to weaken Yemen’s resistance and force the Yemeni people to surrender. However, he argued that years of conflict had produced the opposite result.
According to the Ansarullah leader, increased attacks had strengthened the determination of Yemenis to resist what he called aggression. He also said anyone supporting Saudi Arabia would share responsibility for the campaign.
Warning Over Bab el-Mandeb
Al-Houthi said Yemen had established control over its territory and sovereignty. He further claimed that Saudi actions in the Bab el-Mandeb area posed a threat to international maritime traffic.
He warned that continued Saudi military action and what he called a blockade would increase the cost for Riyadh. He also threatened attacks on Saudi oil facilities and military bases and warned of possible losses to Saudi oil exports.
His comments came as fighting has intensified around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and other parts of Yemen. Recent clashes have involved Saudi-backed Yemeni forces and Houthi fighters, while the Houthis have also claimed attacks on targets in Saudi Arabia.
Call for Mass Rally in Yemen
Al-Houthi also called on Yemenis to take part in mass rallies in Sana’a and other provinces on Friday.
He urged supporters to demonstrate against what he described as aggression and the blockade. Moreover, he called for continued opposition to Saudi actions in Yemen.
The Ansarullah leader also said his movement was prepared to respond to any further escalation by Israel. He pledged continued support for the Palestinian people and said the movement would consider all available options.
Regional Tensions Continue to Rise
Al-Houthi’s remarks came amid a sharp escalation in the Yemen conflict. Recent Houthi attacks on Saudi airports have killed three people and injured dozens, according to Saudi authorities. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Meanwhile, Saudi-backed forces have launched operations to regain strategic areas along Yemen’s Red Sea coast and around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The renewed fighting has raised wider concerns over regional security and international shipping.
