Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the conferment of Pakistan’s Nishan-e-Khidmat on Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Muslim world and his efforts to promote interfaith harmony and moderation.
According to official sources, the prestigious national honor acknowledges Dr. Al-Issa’s significant role in strengthening Islamic cooperation, encouraging peaceful coexistence among faiths, and promoting moderate Islamic thought at the international level.
In addition to the national award, the President has also approved the conferment of an Honorary Doctorate on Dr. Al-Issa by the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in recognition of his contributions to Islamic Studies and International Relations.
Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa is one of Saudi Arabia’s leading Islamic scholars, jurists, and internationally respected religious figures. He has served as Secretary General of the Muslim World League since May 2016, leading numerous global initiatives focused on dialogue, tolerance, humanitarian cooperation, and combating extremism.

Before joining the MWL, Dr. Al-Issa served as Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Justice and later as an adviser at the rank of minister in the Royal Court. He succeeded Dr. Abdullah bin Mohsen Al-Turki as Secretary General of the Muslim World League.
In 1443 AH (2022), Dr. Al-Issa delivered the historic Hajj Sermon (Khutbah of Arafat) at Masjid Namirah in Makkah, becoming the 13th Khateeb of Arafat during the modern Saudi era.
The recognition by Pakistan reflects the country’s appreciation of Dr. Al-Issa’s continued efforts to strengthen unity within the Muslim world, encourage interfaith dialogue, and promote peace and mutual understanding across different cultures and religions.
