TEHRAN: Iran’s military claimed on Saturday that it had launched a cruise missile attack against a US naval vessel in the northern Indian Ocean, marking another sharp escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Tehran and Washington.
In a separate statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for an attack on a US drone depot in Bahrain, alleging that it had also destroyed an artificial intelligence center located there. The claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate confirmation or response from US or Bahraini authorities.
Meanwhile, Mohsen Rezaei, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, warned that the conflict could enter a new phase if the United States continues its military operations against Iran.
“If the United States carries out further attacks on Iran, the course of the war could change,” Rezaei said, adding that Iran may abandon its current defensive posture and adopt a more offensive military strategy.
He further warned that if the attacks continue for several more days, Iran would launch a full-scale offensive operation.
