Sanaa: Yemen’s Houthi movement, Ansar Allah, has announced what it describes as a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, warning that military operations against the Kingdom will intensify if the closure of Sanaa International Airport continues.
According to statements carried by regional media, a spokesperson for Ansar Allah said the group considers the continued restrictions on Sanaa International Airport unacceptable and warned that Saudi Arabia would face an expanded military response if the blockade is not lifted.
The spokesperson stated that the Houthi leadership has maintained its position for several weeks, arguing that restrictions on the airport and Yemen’s transport infrastructure have had serious humanitarian consequences. The group said it would increase military operations targeting Saudi interests if its demands remain unmet.
Houthis Warn of Retaliation for Port and Airport Restrictions
In its statement, Ansar Allah also said it would respond to what it described as attacks on Yemen’s ports and the continued closure of Sanaa International Airport. The group argued that restrictions on maritime access and air travel have further intensified regional tensions.
