KUWAIT CITY: Syria and Kuwait have agreed to deepen bilateral relations by working toward the exchange of ambassadors, establishing a high-level joint coordination committee, and creating a Syrian-Kuwaiti Business Council to enhance trade and investment cooperation.
The agreement was reached during talks between Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Kuwait on Monday, according to Syria’s state news agency SANA.
The two sides agreed to strengthen diplomatic coordination and expand cooperation across multiple sectors, including commerce, investment, and economic development. They also decided to establish a high-level joint coordination committee, co-chaired by the two foreign ministers, to supervise joint initiatives and advance bilateral cooperation.
As part of the new framework, Syria and Kuwait will also work to enhance collaboration between their respective chambers of commerce and business councils, aiming to create new opportunities for investors and businesses in both countries.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani reaffirmed Syria’s support for Kuwait, emphasizing respect for its sovereignty and strongly condemning any attacks targeting Kuwaiti territory or any member state of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Earlier in the day, Al-Shaibani also met Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, where both sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The discussions also covered the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to enhance peace, security, and stability across the Middle East.
The visit marks another step in improving relations between the two countries. Al-Shaibani previously visited Kuwait on June 1, 2025, as part of an official delegation accompanying Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa.
