NEW DELHI: Indian opposition party Congress staged a sit-in protest outside the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where police detained senior party leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and several other protesters.
The demonstration, led by Rahul Gandhi, called for the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing the government of failing to address growing public concerns over alleged examination paper leaks, educational corruption and rising unemployment.
According to reports, police moved in to disperse the protest and detained several Congress leaders and workers after the sit-in gathered outside the prime minister’s residence.
The protest also highlighted recent police action against young demonstrators who had been protesting alleged police violence during earlier student-led rallies.
India has witnessed widespread protests in recent months as millions of students and job seekers have voiced anger over repeated leaks of recruitment and medical entrance examination papers, allegations of corruption in the education system and the shortage of employment opportunities.

Opposition leaders have blamed the government for failing to ensure transparency in recruitment processes and have demanded the resignation of the country’s education minister, while urging authorities to take strict action against those responsible for examination irregularities.
The demonstrations reflect growing political pressure on the Modi government as opposition parties continue to raise concerns over youth unemployment, education reforms and governance ahead of upcoming political developments.
