JERUSALEM: Israel’s security cabinet has reportedly discussed a range of possible military scenarios involving Iran, amid growing uncertainty over whether the United States will pursue further escalation or support a ceasefire initiative.
According to Israeli media reports, the security cabinet held a six-hour meeting to assess developments and consider potential responses if tensions with Iran intensify.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to coordinate positions on various scenarios and review the strategic interests of both countries.
According to the report, Israeli officials expressed concern that Israel could launch a renewed military campaign against Iran only to face pressure from Washington to halt operations after a short period.
“Our interest in this campaign depends on its substance. We do not want to enter another military campaign only to be told to stop after a few days,” an Israeli official was quoted as saying.

The report, however, noted that there is no indication the United States has asked Israel to join any new military action against Iran.
Meanwhile, another report by Israel’s Channel 12 said US President Donald Trump is expected to decide in the coming days whether to support a reported 10-day ceasefire proposal presented by international mediators or pursue broader military escalation against Iran.
According to the report, no final decision has yet been made by the White House, and consultations between Washington and its regional partners are continuing.
