KYIV, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of supplying satellite intelligence to Iran, alleging that Moscow is helping Tehran identify and assess targets during its military operations in the Middle East.
In a statement posted on X, Zelensky claimed that Ukrainian intelligence has observed increased Russian satellite surveillance over the Gulf region and U.S. military installations since the beginning of July.
“Since the beginning of July, we have recorded active Russian satellite surveillance of the Gulf states and U.S. military facilities located there. These images subsequently appear in Iran,” Zelensky said.
According to the Ukrainian president, there is a “clear correlation” between Russian satellite imagery and subsequent Iranian strikes, both in the planning stage and in post-strike damage assessments.
“There is a clear correlation between Russia’s satellite imagery of these sites and Iranian strikes – both before the attacks, in preparation for them, and afterward, to assess the damage inflicted,” he added.
Zelensky did not provide evidence publicly to support the allegation, and Russia has not immediately responded to the claim.
The accusation comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where Iran and the United States have been engaged in escalating military exchanges. Western governments have repeatedly expressed concern over expanding military cooperation between Moscow and Tehran, including previous allegations involving drones, missiles, and defense technology.
