RAWALPINDI, Pakistan’s security forces killed five militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Razmak area of North Waziristan District, while Major Hafiz Ehsan Elahi embraced martyrdom during an intense exchange of fire, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said the operation was conducted on August 1, 2026, after receiving intelligence regarding the presence of militants, whom the statement described as being backed by India.

According to the ISPR, security forces effectively engaged the militants, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists during the operation.

During the fierce exchange of fire, Major Hafiz Ehsan Elahi, aged 34, was martyred while leading his troops from the front.

The officer hailed from Mianwali District and was praised by the military for displaying exceptional courage and leadership during the operation.

The ISPR stated that Major Ehsan Elahi fought bravely alongside his soldiers before making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Security forces recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the killed militants.

According to the military, the deceased militants were involved in multiple terrorist attacks targeting security forces, law enforcement personnel, and innocent civilians.

The ISPR said a clearance operation remains underway to eliminate any remaining militants believed to be hiding in the area.

The military reiterated that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign will continue under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision approved by the National Action Plan (NAP) through the Federal Apex Committee.

The statement reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue operations until terrorism, including militancy allegedly supported from abroad, is completely eradicated.

The ISPR added that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s soldiers further strengthen the nation’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and ensure lasting peace and security.
