KYIV, At least nine people were killed and 27 others injured, including four children, after Russia launched overnight missile strikes targeting Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, according to Ukrainian local authorities and emergency services.
The attack came hours after Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned residents of an incoming ballistic missile attack and urged them to immediately seek shelter.
“Explosions in the city. Kyiv is under ballistic missile attack. Stay in shelters!” Klitschko wrote on Telegram.
Multiple Districts Hit
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said the strikes affected five areas of Kyiv, causing significant damage to residential buildings, vehicles, and other civilian infrastructure.
The Darnytsky district suffered the heaviest casualties, where authorities reported:
- Seven people killed
- Fourteen injured
- Damage to multiple residential buildings and parked vehicles
In the Solomiansky district, Russian strikes hit a five-story residential building, killing two people and injuring eight others.

Journalists at the scene reported hearing more than ten explosions in quick succession across the city, with the blasts triggering vehicle alarms throughout several neighborhoods.
