Muzaffarabad, Pakistan — The second phase of the 2026 Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections concluded on Sunday, with unofficial and provisional results showing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerging as the leading party. According to results received so far, PML-N has secured 12 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has won four seats.
Polling was held for eight constituencies in the Muzaffarabad Division and 12 refugee constituencies across Pakistan. Voting in Muzaffarabad Division continued from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., with polling extended by one additional hour, while voting for refugee seats ended at the scheduled time.
Muzaffarabad Division Results
Several constituencies have announced complete unofficial results:
- LA-25 Neelum Valley-I: PML-N candidate Shah Ghulam Qadir won with 18,925 votes, defeating PPP’s Mian Abdul Waheed, who received 13,596 votes.
- LA-29 Muzaffarabad-III: PPP’s Sardar Mukhtar Khan secured victory with 19,792 votes, while PML-N’s Barrister Iftikhar Ali Gilani obtained 16,413 votes.
- LA-30 Muzaffarabad-IV: PML-N’s Mustafa Bashir Abbasi won with 17,749 votes, ahead of PPP’s Mubashir Munir Awan, who received 11,947 votes.
- LA-33 Muzaffarabad-VII: PPP candidate Diwan Ali Khan Qamar Chughtai emerged victorious with 25,469 votes, defeating PML-N’s Mian Muhammad Rashid, who secured 21,175 votes.
Vote counting continues in LA-26, LA-28, LA-31, and LA-32, where early trends show close contests between PML-N and PPP candidates.
Refugee Constituencies
PML-N has performed strongly in the refugee constituencies, winning the following seats based on complete unofficial results:
- LA-34 Jammu-I: Muhammad Nasir Dar (PML-N)
- LA-35 Jammu-II: Chaudhry Muhammad Ismail (PML-N)
- LA-36 Jammu-III: Muhammad Ahsan Raza (PML-N)
- LA-37 Jammu-IV: Maryam Javed (PML-N)
- LA-38 Jammu-V: Zeeshan Ali (PML-N)
- LA-39 Jammu-VI: Raja Muhammad Siddiq (PML-N)
- LA-41 Kashmir Valley-II: Muhammad Amir Shah (PML-N)
- LA-42 Kashmir Valley-III: Syed Shaukat Ali Shah (PML-N)
- LA-43 Kashmir Valley-IV: Muhammad Yaseen Lone (PML-N)
- LA-44 Kashmir Valley-V: Muhammad Ahmed Raza Qadri (PML-N)
PPP secured victories in:
- LA-40 Kashmir Valley-I: Amir Abdul Ghaffar
- LA-45 Kashmir Valley-VI: Abdul Majid Khan
A total of 1,483 polling stations were established across the Muzaffarabad Division for the second phase of voting. Polling in LA-27 Muzaffarabad was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
The refugee constituencies included six Jammu seats and six Kashmir Valley seats, with polling conducted in various cities across Pakistan to facilitate voting by displaced Kashmiri voters.
Election officials continue to compile results from the remaining constituencies, while the overall political picture indicates a significant advantage for PML-N in the second phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly Elections 2026.
