KABUL,General Sami Sadat, leader of the United Front of Afghanistan, has announced the launch of an armed campaign against the Taliban, calling on the United States, NATO, and the wider international community to provide political support for the movement.

In a video statement, Sadat said his organization had begun military operations against Taliban forces in Kandahar, describing the campaign as part of a broader effort to free Afghanistan from Taliban rule.

“We have launched armed operations against the Taliban from Kandahar,” Sadat said.

The former Afghan military commander said the United Front’s operations would not only target the Taliban but would also confront Al-Qaeda, Daesh (Islamic State) and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to Sadat, the group’s objective is to combat militant organizations that continue to threaten regional security.

Addressing Afghanistan’s neighboring states, Sadat said the United Front does not seek confrontation with regional governments.

“We do not want to create problems for our neighbors. We see our future with you. We are not against you; the Taliban are against you,” he said.

Sadat pledged that United Front forces would conduct their operations in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.

He also emphasized that the organization would not seek permission from any foreign government before carrying out military operations inside Afghanistan.

“Our struggle is only for freedom from Taliban rule,” he said, urging the international community to “stand on the right side of history.”

The announcement comes amid continued resistance activity in parts of Afghanistan, where anti-Taliban groups have periodically claimed attacks on Taliban forces since the movement returned to power in 2021. The Taliban has not yet issued an official response to Sadat’s latest statement.
