QUETTA: Eighteen militants linked to Fitna al-Hindustan were killed following a premature explosion and a subsequent security operation in Surab district of Balochistan, according to Pakistan’s military.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the initial blast occurred while militants were preparing an improvised explosive device (IED) inside a vehicle.
Three Civilians Also Killed
According to the ISPR, the IED exploded prematurely during its preparation. Several militants were killed and others were injured in the blast.
The explosion also triggered other explosive material stored at the site. As a result, three civilians in the nearby area were killed.
Security Forces Launch Clearance Operation
Following the incident, security forces and Balochistan Police immediately reached the area.
They launched a joint clearance operation to locate the militants involved in the incident and identify their facilitators.
During the operation, security forces tracked the movement of militants who attempted to flee the area. They then carried out an effective operation against them.
As a result, another 10 militants were killed, the ISPR said.
Total of 18 Militants Killed
The military’s media wing said a total of 18 militants linked to Fitna al-Hindustan have been killed in the incidents so far.
Two Pakistan Army soldiers were also injured during intense exchanges of fire with the militants.
Meanwhile, security forces continue clearance and search operations in the area. The objective is to eliminate any remaining militants and ensure that the area is fully secure.
Operations Against Terrorism Continue
The ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue operations against terrorism across the country.
The military said these operations are being conducted under the National Action Plan. They are also aligned with the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam and the decisions approved by the Federal Apex Committee.
According to the ISPR, the security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism supported or sponsored by foreign elements.
