ISLAMABAD: Pakistani travel vlogger and mountaineer Asma Mushtaq has died during a mountaineering expedition to Spantik Peak in the Karakoram mountain range.

Asma was known in Pakistan’s mountaineering community for her passion for adventure, mountains and natural landscapes.

She was born on February 7, 1992.

Asma Successfully Reached Spantik Summit

Asma recently joined an expedition to climb Spantik Peak, which rises to around 7,027 metres in Pakistan’s Karakoram range.

According to reports, she successfully reached the summit with her guide, Ali Akbar.

Reports said she was in good health after reaching the summit.

However, her condition reportedly deteriorated during the descent.

Mountaineer Suffered High-Altitude Illness

According to reports, Asma developed symptoms of high-altitude sickness while returning from the summit.

Her guide provided initial medical assistance and attempted to help her.

However, she could not survive the illness.

High-altitude sickness can become life-threatening when climbers remain at extreme elevations for extended periods.

Arrangements Underway to Return Her Body

Karakoram Calling Treks is coordinating with the relevant authorities to arrange the recovery and transportation of Asma’s body.

The organization is working with officials to facilitate the process.

News of Asma Mushtaq’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief on social media.
