LONDON: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said Pakistan is making every effort to secure the release of 10 Pakistani sailors.
Speaking about the sailors’ release, Dar said international rules do not allow countries to pay ransom for hostages.
He warned that ransom payments could encourage pirates to continue such activities.
Pakistan Seeks Safe Release of Sailors
Ishaq Dar said the government was using every possible option to secure the sailors’ release.
“We are making every effort,” he said. “There are many things that we cannot make public at this stage.”

The deputy prime minister stressed that the government’s main goal is to bring the 10 Pakistani sailors home safely.
He added that Pakistan was working on the matter through available channels.
Ishaq Dar to Meet UK Foreign Secretary
Dar also said he would meet British Foreign Secretary David Lammy during his visit to the United Kingdom.
He said Pakistan and the UK enjoy good relations. The current visit, he added, would help strengthen those ties further.
Dar also said he would speak to the media in detail before leaving Britain for Pakistan.
