TEHRAN: Iran says its armed forces have launched a “decisive operation” against US targets across the region.
The announcement came after the United States launched a fresh wave of strikes against Iranian targets on Tuesday.
Iranian media reported that missiles and drones were being used against American bases and interests. However, independent confirmation of the reported Iranian attacks was not immediately available.
Iran Announces Military Response
The Tasnim news agency reported that Iran’s armed forces had begun what it called a “decisive operation.”
Tasnim said Iranian missiles and drones were targeting US bases and interests in the region.

A senior Iranian military source also told Tasnim that Iran would respond to the latest American strikes. The source said the response would be broader than the US attacks.

Iranian media also reported strikes and explosions at several locations near the Strait of Hormuz and on Iranian islands in the Gulf.
Reports also mentioned explosions in Qeshm, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and other areas in southern Iran.
The exact locations and causes of some of the reported explosions remained unclear.
Strait of Hormuz Tensions Intensify
The latest exchange has increased pressure around the Strait of Hormuz.
The strategic waterway carries a major share of the world’s seaborne oil trade. Any prolonged disruption could therefore affect global energy markets.
