ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia that target civilian and economic infrastructure.
During a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the prime minister expressed Pakistan’s full solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people.
Shehbaz Sharif said the Houthi actions pose a threat to regional peace and security. He also warned that such attacks could disrupt the global economy and energy supplies.
Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Saudi Arabia
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the phone conversation took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The prime minister said Pakistan would continue efforts to reduce tensions in the region. He said he would pursue these efforts alongside Field Marshal Asim Munir and the deputy prime minister.
Shehbaz Sharif also praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his wise and forward-looking leadership during the current crisis.
The prime minister conveyed his best wishes for King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
Leaders Agree to Maintain Close Contact
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman appreciated Pakistan’s continued and steadfast support for Saudi Arabia.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact. They also expressed a desire to meet soon.
Pakistan has repeatedly stressed the importance of regional peace and stability. The latest call also reflects the close ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
