Saudi Arabia Welcomes Over 900,000 Umrah Pilgrims; Pakistan Leads International Arrivals

MAKKAH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced a 22.5% increase in the number of Umrah pilgrims during the current Umrah season, with Pakistan ranking first among all countries in the number of pilgrims arriving to perform Umrah.

According to the ministry, the 2026–27 Umrah season officially began on 15 Dhul Hijjah 1448 AH, following the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. During the first one and a half months of the season, up to 29 Muharram 1448 AH, more than 900,000 pilgrims had already performed Umrah.

Official figures released by the ministry show that nearly 200,000 pilgrims from Pakistan traveled to Saudi Arabia during this period, the highest number among all participating countries.

Indonesia ranked second with approximately 170,000 pilgrims, followed by Iraq, which recorded around 130,000 Umrah pilgrims.

The ministry stated that the issuance of Umrah visas began on May 31, 2026. The final date for Umrah visa issuance has been set for 1 Shawwal 1448 AH (March 9, 2027).

According to the announced schedule, the last date for pilgrims to enter Saudi Arabia is 15 Shawwal 1448 AH (March 23, 2027), while all Umrah pilgrims must depart the Kingdom by 30 Shawwal 1448 AH (April 7, 2027).

Saudi authorities have advised all intending pilgrims to complete their registration, visa procedures, and travel documentation well in advance to ensure a smooth and hassle-free Umrah journey.

Meanwhile, in Pakistan, registration for the next Hajj season is continuing. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that more than 340,000 applicants have completed online registration so far.

According to the ministry, approximately 246,000 applicants have registered under the government Hajj scheme, while around 94,000 people have opted for the private Hajj scheme.

The ministry’s spokesperson said the schedule for online Hajj payments will be announced shortly. Registered applicants have been advised to use the Pak Hajj App or contact the ministry’s official Hajj helplines for further information and guidance.
