MANILA: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting in Manila.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kallas recalled her recent visit to Islamabad for the Eighth Round of the Pakistan–European Union Strategic Dialogue. Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing cooperation under the Pakistan–EU Strategic Engagement Plan, aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations.
Discussing regional developments, the two sides emphasized that sustained diplomacy remains the only viable and lasting path to peace and stability in light of the ongoing US-Iran tensions. They exchanged views on the broader implications of the crisis for regional security, global energy markets, maritime security, international trade, and global supply chains.
Both leaders underscored the importance of continued dialogue, peaceful conflict resolution, and adherence to international law in addressing regional and global challenges.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to the effective implementation of all international conventions underpinning the GSP+ framework, highlighting Islamabad’s determination to fulfill its international obligations.

He also stressed that Pakistan attaches great importance to its economic partnership with the European Union and remains committed to expanding trade, investment, and strategic cooperation with the bloc.
The meeting reflected the growing momentum in Pakistan-EU relations and the mutual desire to deepen collaboration on political, economic, and regional issues of shared interest.
