PRAGUE, July 23 — A Czech military UH-1Y Venom helicopter crashed at an air force base in the eastern Czech Republic, killing at least one soldier and triggering an emergency rescue operation, according to the Czech Armed Forces.
The accident occurred at the 22nd Helicopter Air Force Base in Náměšť nad Oslavou, where the aircraft went down during military operations. The Czech military confirmed that five service members were on board at the time of the crash.
Following the incident, the country’s Integrated Emergency System was immediately activated, with rescue teams, firefighters, and medical personnel rushing to the scene to carry out emergency response operations.
According to the Czech News Agency (CTK), at least one military personnel lost his life in the crash. Authorities have not yet released official information regarding the condition of the remaining crew members.
The Czech Armed Forces stated that a formal investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. Officials said it remains too early to conclude whether the crash resulted from technical failure, human error, or another factor.

The UH-1Y Venom, manufactured by Bell Textron, is a modern multi-role military helicopter widely used for troop transport, logistical support, humanitarian missions, and other military operations. Powered by two General Electric T700-GE-401C engines, the aircraft is designed to operate in demanding combat and rescue environments.
