WASHINGTON, July 23: US President Donald Trump announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit the United States on September 24, with artificial intelligence (AI) expected to be one of the key topics on the bilateral agenda.
Speaking on Thursday, Trump said he plans to continue discussions on AI with Xi during the upcoming visit, following their meeting during his trip to China earlier this year.
“President Xi is coming over on September 24th, and we talked about it (artificial intelligence) when I was over in Beijing, and we’ll be talking about it again,” Trump said.
The planned visit follows Trump’s visit to Beijing in May, where he met with President Xi and extended an invitation for the Chinese leader to visit the White House.
The announcement comes as Washington and Beijing continue efforts to stabilize relations amid ongoing strategic competition in trade, technology, security, and global economic affairs.

On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also held talks, emphasizing the importance of identifying areas of cooperation to help ensure a successful summit between the two leaders.
According to officials, both sides expressed hope that continued diplomatic engagement would lay the groundwork for what was described as a “very positive visit.”
The expected summit is likely to focus on artificial intelligence, bilateral economic relations, regional security, and other issues affecting US-China relations.
