BERLIN: Germany has announced the relocation of two naval vessels amid growing security concerns and the fragile situation in the Middle East, according to the German Ministry of Defence.
Foreign media reported that the German Navy will move its supply ship Mosel and the mine countermeasure vessel Fulda, currently stationed in Djibouti, to the Eastern Mediterranean as part of a precautionary deployment.
The ministry stated that the two vessels had originally been dispatched following the end of last month’s conflict between the United States and Iran to support a potential mission in the Strait of Hormuz if required.
German defence officials emphasized that Berlin is closely monitoring developments across the region and remains on a high state of readiness in response to the evolving security environment.
“The situation in the region remains fragile, and we are continuously assessing developments,” the ministry said, adding that the repositioning of the vessels reflects Germany’s efforts to remain prepared for any potential escalation.
