BRUSSELS, The Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels has inaugurated a week-long photo exhibition ahead of Kashmir Exploitation Day (August 5) to highlight the human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
The exhibition presents a powerful visual account of the hardships faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir over several decades, with particular focus on developments following August 5, 2019, when India revoked the region’s special constitutional status.
Featuring photographs and documentary material, the exhibition aims to raise awareness among international audiences about the humanitarian challenges, restrictions, and human rights concerns in IIOJK. It also emphasizes the importance of a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, described Kashmir Exploitation Day as an important occasion to express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to remember the developments of August 5, 2019.
The ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s principled and unwavering support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people as enshrined in the relevant UNSC resolutions.

He stressed that lasting peace and stability in South Asia cannot be achieved without a just and peaceful settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with international law and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
Ambassador Qureshi also urged the international community to continue supporting efforts aimed at protecting human rights in the region and promoting a fair and peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute.
The exhibition will remain open at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels throughout the week, serving as a reminder of the resilience of the Kashmiri people and Pakistan’s continued support for their legitimate struggle for self-determination.
