UNITED NATIONS, — China has warned that terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan continue to pose a serious security threat to neighbouring countries, with their ability to carry out cross-border attacks reportedly increasing.
Speaking at a United Nations Security Council meeting on threats to international peace and security, China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Sun Lei, called for continued international attention to the counterterrorism situation in Afghanistan.
China Urges Taliban to Take Decisive Action
Sun Lei urged the Taliban authorities to honour their counterterrorism commitments and take effective and decisive action against terrorist groups operating on Afghan soil.
He stressed the need for the international community to closely monitor developments related to terrorism in Afghanistan and assess the potential impact on regional security.
China’s warning comes amid continued concerns among Afghanistan’s neighbouring states over militant groups allegedly operating from Afghan territory.

Security analysts cited in the report have accused the Taliban authorities of failing to fully meet commitments under the Doha Agreement, particularly regarding terrorist groups and their alleged safe havens in Afghanistan.
