BUCHAREST — Pakistan’s Ambassador to Romania, Ilyas Nizami, visited the University of Bucharest and met its Rector, Prof. Dr. Marian Preda.
The meeting focused on possible institutional cooperation between the University of Bucharest and higher education institutions in Pakistan.
Pakistan, Romania Explore Academic Cooperation
During the meeting, Ambassador Nizami received a briefing on the university’s academic programmes and history.
The discussion also covered the university’s role in promoting democratic values and freedom of expression in Romania.
Ambassador Nizami highlighted the growing interest among Pakistani students in studying in Romania.
He said Romanian universities offer quality and affordable higher education opportunities.
The ambassador also recalled a bilateral agreement signed in 2022.
The agreement links the Law Faculty of the University of the Punjab in Lahore with the Faculty of Law at the University of Bucharest.
Ambassador Proposes More Academic Exchanges
Nizami proposed stronger academic exchanges between institutions in Pakistan and Romania.
He also suggested greater cooperation in research.
The ambassador proposed joint seminars and participation in international conferences.
The visit highlighted efforts to expand education and research links between Pakistan and Romania.
