Shanghai: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Shanghai, where both sides agreed to deepen cooperation under CPEC 2.0 and strengthen collaboration in trade, investment, the digital economy, science and technology, and artificial intelligence.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the meeting reviewed the longstanding All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.
The two ministers emphasized the importance of advancing the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0) and agreed to expand cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, science and technology, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence.
They also exchanged views on regional and international developments and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination and consultations on issues of mutual interest.
Separately, Pakistan signed the agreement establishing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) during a ceremony in Shanghai. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar signed the agreement on behalf of Pakistan, reaffirming the country’s commitment to promoting international cooperation in artificial intelligence, particularly to support inclusive development and equitable access for countries of the Global South.

Pakistan emphasized that fair access to artificial intelligence technologies can play a vital role in driving innovation, sustainable development, and shared prosperity, and expressed its readiness to work closely with other member states to advance these objectives.
