Islamabad: Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry held talks with a high-level Chinese delegation led by Qi Jingyang, Director General of China’s National Immigration Administration (NIA), during which both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in immigration, border management, border security, and institutional coordination.
The meeting focused on strengthening joint efforts to combat illegal immigration, human trafficking, arms smuggling, and other cross-border crimes. Both countries also agreed to expedite the finalization of a bilateral agreement aimed at making immigration procedures more efficient and streamlined.
A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to establish a Pakistan-China Joint Working Group on border management and security to improve coordination and institutional cooperation between the two countries.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan is committed to expanding cooperation with China in land border management, seaport security, and immigration administration. He reiterated that the government is implementing a zero-tolerance policy against illegal immigration, unlawful border crossings, and smuggling, with indiscriminate action being taken against those involved.
He also announced that a new Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts checkpoint is being established at Khunjerab Pass to further strengthen border security.

Minister of State Talal Chaudhry emphasized that close cooperation between Pakistan and China would significantly improve efforts to prevent illegal immigration and cross-border criminal activities.
The Chinese delegation commended Pakistan’s measures against illegal border crossings and smuggling, reaffirming China’s commitment to further strengthening its strategic partnership with Pakistan. Director General Qi Jingyang assured continued Chinese support for enhancing the capacity of Pakistani institutions.
During the meeting, the Chinese delegation also delivered an invitation from China’s Minister of Public Security to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to attend the upcoming Public Security Forum. A delegation from Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was also invited to participate.

The Chinese Ambassador informed the meeting that a group of Pakistani police officers would travel to China later this month for specialized training. He also noted that Chinese experts are currently providing Chinese language training to personnel of Pakistan’s Special Protection Unit (SPU).
The meeting was attended by the Chinese Ambassador, Pakistan’s Interior Secretary, the Director General of the FIA, the Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and other senior officials.
