Beijing: The Chinese government has announced the appointment of new ambassadors to Iraq, Cyprus, and Panama following a decision by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), as Beijing continues to strengthen its diplomatic representation overseas.
According to Chinese state media, Xiang Bo has been appointed as China’s new Ambassador to Iraq, succeeding Cui Wei. The appointment is part of the country’s routine diplomatic rotation aimed at maintaining and expanding bilateral cooperation with key international partners.
In a separate appointment, Yang Yundong has been named China’s new Ambassador to Cyprus, replacing Liu Yantao. The new envoy is expected to oversee diplomatic engagement and further enhance political, economic, and cultural ties between Beijing and Nicosia.
Meanwhile, Zhang Xiangyan has been appointed as China’s new Ambassador to Panama, taking over from Xu Xueyuan. China and Panama have witnessed growing cooperation in recent years, particularly in trade, infrastructure development, and investment following the establishment of diplomatic relations.
The appointments were approved by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislative body, in accordance with the country’s diplomatic appointment procedures.
