MANILA: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila, reaffirming the longstanding friendship and close bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two foreign ministers discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in trade, economic connectivity, defense, and people-to-people exchanges. They reviewed the positive momentum in institutional engagement and expressed satisfaction with the growing economic and commercial partnership between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The ministers also welcomed the successful recent tour of the Pakistan national cricket team to Sri Lanka, describing sporting exchanges as an important avenue for enhancing mutual goodwill and strengthening ties between the two nations.
Both sides agreed that sustained high-level engagement remains essential for further deepening bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for collaboration across multiple sectors.
During discussions on regional and international developments, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue, peace, and regional stability. The two leaders expressed hope that recent regional tensions would be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue, paving the way for lasting peace, security, and stability across the region.
