PARIS, France has ordered Ksenia Fedorova, a former journalist with Russia’s state-backed broadcaster RT, to leave the country after authorities accused her of promoting Kremlin propaganda and contributing to Russian disinformation efforts.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the French Interior Ministry confirmed the expulsion order, which comes amid growing concerns over foreign influence campaigns ahead of France’s presidential election next year.
Disinformation experts have repeatedly warned that Fedorova, a former RT France journalist, has continued to amplify pro-Kremlin narratives through appearances on French television and radio despite the closure of RT France.
French newspaper Libération reported that authorities believe Fedorova served as a channel for a Russian state-backed disinformation campaign aimed at destabilizing public order in France.
RT France ceased operations in 2023, one year after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine, following sanctions imposed by the European Union.

After the closure of RT France, Fedorova remained active in the French media landscape, appearing as a political commentator on CNews television, Europe 1 radio, and writing opinion columns for Le Journal du Dimanche, where she frequently expressed views aligned with the Kremlin’s positions on Ukraine and Western countries.
French authorities have intensified efforts to counter foreign disinformation campaigns, particularly as concerns grow over potential attempts to influence public opinion ahead of the country’s next presidential election.
