ISLAMABAD, — India’s newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires, Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, has arrived in Pakistan to assume charge as New Delhi’s top diplomat in Islamabad, marking a new phase in India’s diplomatic representation in the country.
Dr. Pandey entered Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border crossing, where he officially began his assignment at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
He succeeds Geetika Srivastava, who made history as the first woman to lead the Indian diplomatic mission in Pakistan. During her tenure, Srivastava was widely recognized for breaking new ground in a diplomatic role traditionally dominated by men.
The diplomatic transition comes at a time when relations between India and Pakistan remain fragile, with both countries maintaining limited but essential diplomatic engagement despite continuing political and security challenges.
As Chargé d’Affaires, Dr. Pandey will oversee India’s diplomatic mission in Islamabad in the absence of a High Commissioner, managing bilateral communication and consular affairs while representing New Delhi’s interests in Pakistan.
