LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly has passed a resolution welcoming the joint defense agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
The resolution was presented by PML-N Chief Whip Rana Muhammad Arshad.
The assembly described the agreement as an important and historic step. It said the deal reflects mutual trust among the three brotherly Muslim countries.
Resolution Highlights Regional Security
According to the resolution, the agreement will strengthen joint security and defense cooperation. It will also support peace and stability in the region.
The resolution congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the Pakistani nation on the agreement.
It also praised former Prime Minister and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The resolution credited their diplomatic, political and practical efforts in strengthening the partnership.
Agreement Not Directed Against Any Country
The resolution stressed that the agreement is not aimed at any country.

Instead, it seeks to promote peace, stability, cooperation and joint security.
Pakistan remains a peaceful country, the resolution said. However, it added that strong defense remains necessary to protect national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Defense Cooperation Could Boost Economic Ties
The Punjab Assembly also highlighted the wider benefits of closer cooperation among the three countries.
According to the resolution, stronger ties could create new opportunities in trade and investment. They could also support technology, industrial production and defense manufacturing.
Moreover, the assembly said greater cooperation could contribute to peace and prosperity across the region.
Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to National Interests
The resolution said Pakistan would continue working with brotherly countries to promote peace and stability.
It also stressed the principles of mutual respect and cooperation.
At the same time, Pakistan would not compromise on its security, sovereignty or national interests, the resolution stated.
The Punjab Assembly also offered prayers for the success, strength and long-term stability of the historic partnership between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
