LAHORE: US Consul General in Lahore, Stateson Sanders, hosted a reception to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence.
The event was held under the theme “Echoes of Freedom.” It highlighted the long-standing partnership between the United States and Pakistan.
The reception also reaffirmed the commitment to stronger strategic, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
US-Pakistan Partnership Focus
In his remarks, Consul General Stateson Sanders linked the founding principles of the United States with present-day US-Pakistan relations.
He focused on four key areas of US foreign policy. These were innovation, creativity, connectivity and opportunity.

Sanders said these principles can support greater prosperity, security and development for both countries.
He also highlighted the role of American business and economic engagement in Pakistan. He said such partnerships can create jobs and expand opportunities.
Punjab Governor Attends Reception
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan attended the event as the chief guest.
The reception brought together people from many sectors of Punjab. Government officials, elected representatives, social leaders and business figures attended the gathering.
Academics, journalists and members of the diplomatic community also joined the event.
The broad participation reflected the wide range of US links with Pakistani society.
US Investment and Pakistani Talent
Consul General Sanders highlighted examples of American economic activity in Pakistan.
He referred to the Google Chromebook assembly line in Haripur. He also mentioned US investment in Pakistani technology and talent.
Sanders cited the achievements of Pakistani technology pioneer Arfa Karim as another example of the potential of young Pakistani talent.

He also highlighted long-standing trade and cultural links between the two countries.
Among these links, he mentioned the production of internationally recognised FIFA World Cup footballs in Sialkot.
Bilateral Trade Reaches $8.5 Billion
Sanders said US-Pakistan relations are approaching eight decades.
He described trade as an important part of the relationship. According to his remarks, bilateral trade reached $8.5 billion last year.
He said stronger economic cooperation and wider market access can create further opportunities for both countries.
Focus on Punjab’s Young Generation
The US Consul General also spoke about the potential of young people in Punjab.
He noted that the province is home to some of Pakistan’s leading universities. He said these institutions are filled with ambitious and hopeful young people.
Sanders also pointed to entrepreneurs, engineers, researchers, artists and innovators in Punjab.
He said these groups can help shape the future of US-Pakistan relations.
“The best idea Punjab has to offer has not yet been seen,” Sanders said, adding that the United States would stand alongside Pakistan when those ideas emerge.
Liberty Bell Models Displayed
The reception also featured colourful displays of life-size models of Philadelphia’s original Liberty Bell.
Pakistani artists created and painted the models through the US Consulate’s Lincoln Corners network.
The initiative forms part of broader US efforts to build lasting people-to-people links between American values and the next generation of Pakistani leaders.
Freedom 250 Global Initiative
Freedom 250 is a year-long global initiative led by US missions around the world.
The initiative marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The Trump administration launched the national campaign under the theme of a “new era of American greatness.”
The initiative seeks to highlight American values and strengthen bilateral partnerships. It also aims to promote national pride and unity while reinforcing US engagement around the world.
The Lahore reception combined these themes with a focus on the continuing economic, cultural and people-to-people links between the United States and Pakistan.
