TEHRAN, July 23: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that British military bases used to support any US or Israeli military operations against Iran could become legitimate targets, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement carried by Iranian media, the IRGC accused the United Kingdom of playing a significant role in recent US and Israeli military actions against Iran and cautioned London against becoming further involved in the conflict.
The IRGC said that any military base used to launch attacks against Iranian territory would be considered a legitimate military target, echoing previous warnings issued by Iranian officials.
The statement also claimed that the US Navy’s stockpile of cruise missiles in the Indian Ocean had been depleted, forcing the United States to rely on B-1 strategic bombers operating from RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
According to the IRGC, US forces initially relied on cruise missiles launched from naval vessels deployed in the Indian Ocean, but have since shifted to long-range bomber operations from British territory.

The statement further accused Britain of a long history of intervention in the Middle East, alleging that London had contributed to regional instability, supported authoritarian governments, and played a historical role in events leading to the establishment of Israel.
The warning comes as military tensions between Iran and the United States continue to intensify, with both sides exchanging strikes on strategic facilities.
The United Kingdom has already designated the IRGC as a national security threat under new legislation. Tehran has strongly criticized the move and has vowed to respond with reciprocal measures.
