COLOMBO: Sri Lanka has announced free visa access for Pakistani citizens in a move aimed at strengthening tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and broader bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to media reports, Sri Lanka’s Consul General in Pakistan, Sanjeeva Paththuwala, said that online visa applications submitted by Pakistani nationals are now being processed within 48 hours, making travel to the island nation faster and more convenient.
The Consul General said the initiative forms part of wider efforts to deepen cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka across key sectors, including education, trade, investment, tourism, and defense.
He noted that simplified travel procedures would encourage greater exchanges among business professionals, students, and tourists, helping to expand economic and cultural cooperation between the two South Asian nations.
Sri Lanka is also actively promoting itself as an attractive destination for Pakistani travelers, highlighting its pristine beaches, UNESCO-listed cultural heritage sites, wildlife parks, and scenic hill-country resorts as major tourist attractions.
