JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to convene a high-level national security meeting on Friday as Israel closely monitors the evolving US strategy toward Iran amid renewed threats from President Donald Trump.
According to Israeli media reports, the meeting will bring together senior ministers and top security advisers to assess potential regional developments following Trump’s recent statements warning of possible military action against Iran.
Israeli officials acknowledged uncertainty over Washington’s next steps, with one senior official telling Channel 12 that the situation largely depends on President Trump’s decisions.
“Everything depends on Trump,” the official said. “We don’t know where he is heading. He is maneuvering between a major escalation and a gradual escalation.”
Israeli security officials reportedly believe that if the United States launches strikes against key sites inside Iran, Tehran could retaliate by targeting Israel.

Officials stressed that Israel is preparing for such a scenario and warned that any Iranian attack would receive a strong military response.
“If that happens, Israel will respond, and it will respond with force,” an Israeli official said.
The planned security consultations come amid rising tensions across the Middle East, as the United States and Iran continue exchanging threats while concerns grow over the possibility of a broader regional conflict.
