Shehbaz Sharif Salutes Martyrs on Pakistan Defence and Martyrs Day

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has paid tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs, veterans and their families on Defence and Martyrs Day.

In a message on September 6, the prime minister said the nation salutes the courage of its martyrs, the bravery of its veterans and the firm resolve of their families.

He said their sacrifices form a sacred trust. They also provide the foundation for Pakistan’s freedom, sovereignty and security.

PM recalls 1965 war and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos

Shehbaz Sharif said the spirit of September 6 remains strong.

He linked that spirit to the 1965 war and the recent Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.

The prime minister said Pakistan’s armed forces have continued to demonstrate courage and determination. He added that the entire nation stands proudly with the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy.

The government has also described Operation Bunyanum Marsoos as a significant chapter in Pakistan’s military history.

Pakistan seeks peace but rejects weakness

Shehbaz Sharif stressed that Pakistan wants peace. However, he warned that the country’s commitment to peace should not be seen as weakness.

He said Pakistan has both the will and the capability to defend every part of its territory. He also said the country remains determined to confront terrorism and aggression.

The prime minister called for national unity as Pakistan faces security and economic challenges.

PM calls for a stronger Pakistan

Shehbaz Sharif urged the nation to honour the martyrs by building a united, peaceful and economically strong Pakistan.

He said the country should remain committed to the principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah: Faith, Unity and Discipline.

He also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of Pakistan’s martyrs and for the continued protection of the country.

Pakistan observed Defence and Martyrs Day on September 6 with ceremonies and tributes across the country. The day marks the anniversary of the 1965 war and remains a major date in Pakistan’s national calendar.
