The Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) and the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation between the two leading think tanks.
The agreement aims to promote joint research, academic exchanges and policy dialogue. It will also support stronger intellectual engagement between Pakistan and Malaysia.
Think Tanks Expand Bilateral Cooperation
Lieutenant General Majid Ehsan, President of IPRI, and Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Faiz Abdullah, Executive Chairman of ISIS Malaysia, signed the agreement.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner Syed Ahsan Raza Shah also attended the signing ceremony.
The partnership will create opportunities for both institutions to work together on research and policy issues of mutual interest.
It will also encourage greater interaction between researchers, academics and policy experts from Pakistan and Malaysia.
Focus on Research and Policy Dialogue
The two institutes are prominent policy and strategic research institutions in their respective countries.
IPRI works on national security, international relations, strategic studies, governance and public policy in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, ISIS Malaysia focuses on policy development, strategic affairs and Track-Two diplomacy. It also works through regional networks such as ASEAN-ISIS.
The new MoU is expected to expand cooperation in these areas.
It can also provide a platform for regular exchanges on regional and international developments.
Strengthening Pakistan-Malaysia Intellectual Links
The agreement adds another institutional dimension to Pakistan-Malaysia relations.
Through joint research and academic engagement, IPRI and ISIS Malaysia can develop new perspectives on shared regional challenges.
The partnership also reflects the growing importance of think tanks in supporting informed policy discussions and strengthening links between academic and strategic communities
