Tahir Ashrafi Welcomes Faisal Naseer’s Appointment as NACTA National Coordinator

Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has welcomed Major General Faisal Naseer’s appointment as National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).

Ashrafi described the appointment as an important and timely decision for Pakistan’s fight against terrorism and extremism.

He said Pakistan is passing through a critical phase in its efforts to counter security threats. Therefore, effective coordination among national institutions remains essential.

Ashrafi Praises Faisal Naseer’s Experience

Ashrafi described Major General Faisal Naseer as a capable, experienced and professional military officer.

He said Faisal Naseer has extensive experience in national security and counterterrorism matters.

According to Ashrafi, the general has consistently placed the interests of his command, institution and Pakistan above personal interests.

Ashrafi said these qualities make him suitable for the important responsibility at NACTA.

National Strategy Needed to Fight Terrorism

Ashrafi said Pakistan cannot eliminate terrorism through operations against militants alone.

He stressed the need for a coordinated national strategy that also targets terrorist facilitators, financial networks and organizational structures.

He also called for stronger action against extremist ideologies that can support or encourage violence.

According to Ashrafi, NACTA must play a more active role in coordinating these efforts.

Ashrafi also emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing among state institutions.
